Bystanders ransack OFW's abode
Cheeno Marlo Sayuno
A weeping Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) wished she stayed in Japan when bystanders ransacked their house at Bacao 1, Gen. Trias, Cavite, August 14.
According to balikbayan Genevive Cuevaz, 28, she went out with her family for an overnight swimming, but when they returned early next day, they awed in surprise with what welcomed them.
"Hindi ko inakalang magkakaganito. Dalawang Linggo pa lang ako dito (Philippines) tapos ganito pa mangyayari," Genevive sobbed.
Ransacking the living room and bedrooms, cash amounting to P15, 000 was taken by the robbers still unidentified. The police assumed that the robbery was a small time job because only hand-carry valuables such as PSP, DVD player and amplifier were missing.
"May naka-[owner-type jeep] 'jan sa tapat nila nung hapon. Nung umalis sina Gen e umalis na din yun," neighbor Albert Ramos stated. However, since the Cuevaz residence is located meters away from the Ramoses, the neighbor didn't notice when the alleged bystanders, who were three men presumably in their twenties, came back.
While the Cuevaz Family was in tears with such a great loss, the Gen. Trias Police promises to do the best that they could to find the suspects.
